Student Financial Support for Participating in ISSTA 2015
Participating in research conferences is an important step in becoming a participant in the research community. To make participation more accessible, two sources of financial support are available.
SIGSOFT CAPS
The SIGSOFT CAPS program offers three distinct services to support conference attendance for SIGSOFT student members, SIGSOFT professional members, as well as non-member undergraduate students. The CAPS-GRAD program provides travel support for graduate students who are SIGSOFT student members. The CAPS-UG program offers travel support for undergraduate students, and is open to non-members. The CAPS-KIDS program provides travel support to help defray cost of childcare (open to SIGSOFT student and professonal members).
Full information on the SIGSOFT CAPS programs and applications are available on the SIGSOFT CAPS page.
NSF Support
The U.S. National Science Foundaton has generously provided additional support for student participation in ISSTA. NSF support is limited to current students at U.S. institutions. The committee will evaluate applications for support based on merit, potential to contribute to research in the U.S., and potential to improve representation by underrepresented groups in computing research. Travel support is reserved exclusively for current graduate students at accredited U.S. universities, but undergraduate students may be eligible for support to defray the cost of registration.
Priority for these awards will be given to:
- Student authors of papers accepted to the technical program of ISSTA
- Students accepted to participate in the ISSTA 2015 Doctoral Symposium
- Graduate students with limited resources to participate (considering also the funding of their graduate advisor), and
- Students whose participation improves the diversity of computing research.
Applications for NSF-supported participation in ISSTA will be evaluated by a committee of ISSTA 2015 organizers, and will be coordinated with SIGSOFT CAPS. To simplify the application process, you may prepare an application to the CAPS program and send the same required information (including the CAPS application form) to the ISSTA support program. In addition to the information required for the CAPS program, please indicate if you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Application by June 1 is recommended for full consideration; applications will be accepted until July 1 or until funds are exhausted.
Acknowledgment
We gratefully acknowledge the support of ACM SIGSOFT and the U.S. National Science Foundation for making these travel awards possible.
